PROJECT - CAROB TREE APARTMENTS

CAROB TREE APARTMENTS

The existing Carob Tree restaurant occupied the ground floor of what was the former Duke of St. Albans public house in the Dartmouth Park Conservation Area, Highgate in London.
The owners who operated the restaurant wanted to alter the existing unoccupied and rundown upper floors into self contained residential apartments. with minimal disruption to the running of the restaurant. However the local residents were greatly opposed to any alterations or development to the building and had successfully frustrated previous attempts.....

We utilised our Heritage and Conservation Area experience to propose a solution that  minimised the visual impact of the proposed roof extension the existing parapet was extended matching the existing brickwork to provide a generous amenity area.
We achieved the conversion within the built form of the building by creating a separate access to the residential units by splitting the front patio area and taking a small section of the restaurant for access.
On appeal we successfully achieved planning consent for the clients.
The scheme was built out by 3rd party developers in 2013/14.
